Job summary

BurnBot is seeking Field Operations Specialists to join our on-the-ground wildfire fuel reduction crews in Reno, NV. This hands-on role uses chainsaws and hand tools to cut, limb, and clear trees and brush, supporting fire mitigation and land management projects.

You will operate outdoors in the Tahoe region with field sites in Carson City and surrounding areas. Travel up to 75% of the time across the west coast, requiring physical stamina and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Over one year of chainsaw operation experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to seek assistance when needed.
• Strong customer service mindset and communication.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs.
• Comfort with outdoor, physically demanding labor.
• Willingness to travel 5+ days, up to 75% time.
• Enthusiasm for BurnBot’s mission.
• Experience in vegetation management or fuels mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Operate chainsaws, hand tools and brush-clearing equipment to remove vegetation.
• Limb, buck, drag and pile brush and small trees.
• Support fire mitigation and land management projects.
• Maintain a clean, safe worksite and follow all field safety protocols.
• Travel to job sites, often in remote or rugged locations.
• Comply with all state and federal regulations, safety or otherwise.
• Ensure issued equipment is properly maintained and clean at all times.
• Perform minor repairs on hand tools, power equipment and vehicles, as needed.
• Assess site, terrain and weather conditions before operating equipment to ensure personal and team safety.
• Strong bias for action and the ability to execute assigned tasks with or without guidance.
• Adapt to a fast changing environment and work priorities.
• Desire to learn, ask questions and take on new responsibilities as needed.
• Other duties as assigned
