Job summary

BurnBot in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator / Senior Operations Specialist to join our Field Operations team. You will inspect and maintain equipment, perform mechanical and prescribed fire fuel treatments, and uphold safety standards while supporting customer outcomes.

This is a non-exempt, full-time hourly role with $32-$38 per hour. Travel up to 75% across the West Coast is expected; certification to operate equipment on fire assignments is encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Class A CDL required.
• 2+ years operating heavy equipment (e.g., masticators, mulchers, skid steers).
• Familiarity with fire mitigation or vegetation management projects.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
• Ability to perform field diagnostics and equipment maintenance.
• Able to work in remote, rugged outdoor environments.
• Excellent customer service skills and safety mindset.
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work 8+ hours daily.
• Willingness to get certified to operate equipment on fire assignments.

Responsibilities

• Operate BurnBot’s remote mastication units in the field.
• Navigate rugged terrain using heavy equipment best practices.
• Conduct field maintenance and basic troubleshooting on machinery.
• Coordinate with leadership on daily production goals and updates.
• Comply with state and federal safety regulations.
• Maintain a safe, productive, and positive working environment.
• Operate chainsaw to fell, delimb, and buck trees at worksites.
• Demonstrate bias for action and execute tasks with or without guidance.
• Adapt to fast-changing priorities and learn new responsibilities as needed.
