Job summary

Dashiell is seeking a Field Safety Representative to foster a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, NFPA, and client requirements across field operations. You will lead on‑site safety efforts, perform reviews and training, and proactively prevent injuries and incidents.

The role requires field presence, routine audits, incident investigations, and collaboration with clients and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety or related field may substitute some work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction, craft or safety (construction or general industry experience).
  • Completion of OSHA 30‑Hour Construction course (required); OSHA 500 or equivalent advanced safety credential preferred.
  • Current first aid/CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement pre‑job safety execution plans and Job Safety Task Analyses (JSTA).
  • Perform routine jobsite safety audits, inspections, and safety consultations addressing compliance, procedural, subcontractor, equipment, and environmental issues.
  • Ensure inspection, testing, and proper documentation of tools, ladders, insulated sticks, rubber goods, protective grounds, and other safety equipment.
  • Exercise independent judgement in the interpretation and application of OSHA, DOT, NFPA, and NESC rules and regulations.
  • Conduct and document incident investigations, including injuries, vehicle incidents, near misses, and third‑party events; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records related to investigations, audits, permits, and safety documentation.
  • Conduct and/or oversee safety and compliance training, including but not limited to: Safety Orientations, Equipment Operation, Forklift, Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, First Aid/CPR, and DOT compliance.
  • Review and verify safety‑related documentation such as permits (Confined Space, LOTO, Energized/Close Proximity Work), and driver logs.
  • Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and compliance expectations.
  • Advise management in developing safety policies, procedures, and accident prevention strategies.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct jobsite safety meetings; attend daily, weekly, and client‑mandated meetings as required.
  • Participate in monthly internal Safety Committee meetings and represent the company during client or third‑party safety audits.
  • Submit daily safety activity reports and site visit lookahead schedules to the Safety Manager.
  • Support client and contractor safety professionals as needed.
  • Perform other safety‑related duties as assigned.

Field Safety Representative

West Region (California, Arizona, Nevada)

Primary Function

The Field Safety Representative is responsible for fostering and maintaining a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with governmental regulations, client requirements, and Dashiell policies and procedures. This role provides on-site safety leadership, conducts reviews and training, and proactively works to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage. The majority of the coordinator’s time is spent in the field actively monitoring and coaching employees to promote safe work practices and a productive work environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

  • Develop and implement pre-job safety execution plans and Job Safety Task Analyses (JSTA).

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Physical Requirements
  • Role requires regular presence in the field at assigned job sites.
  • Frequent travel between project locations as required.
  • Work performed in both indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
  • Requires mobility, use of PPE, and the ability to walk, stand or climb for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%).
  • Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
  • May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
