Job summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry, LLC is seeking a Field Safety Manager to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors on utility‑scale energy projects. You will develop, implement, and oversee safety protocols across multiple sites, collaborating with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to minimize risk and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (Preferred).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in safety management, with a focus on energy, construction, or industrial projects (utility‑scale energy projects preferred).
  • Proven track record in managing safety for large, complex projects.
  • Solar, BESS, or wind power project experience (Preferred).
  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (MS Projects, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Certifications in safety management (CSP, CHST, EHS, HAZWOPER, NFPA 70E, etc.).
  • Safety trained for field work (OSHA 30).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments; partner with project teams to ensure safety is embedded from planning through execution.
  • Lead safety training and awareness efforts, including onboarding, toolbox talks, and ongoing education for employees and subcontractors.
  • Oversee incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions; maintain accurate records and ensure timely regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable state/local regulations; serve as the point of contact for audits and inspections.
  • Drive a strong safety culture through continuous improvement, performance tracking, and collaboration with leadership and field teams.
  • Identify hazards and implement risk mitigation strategies, including development and enforcement of emergency response plans.

The Field Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and contractors involved in utility‑scale energy projects. This role will involve the development, implementation, and oversight of safety protocols, policies, and procedures across various project sites.
