Qualifications

  • 5 years of field safety experience (construction).
  • Professional safety certification or associate's degree desired.
  • Degreed Safety Professional with 12-15 years construction experience.
  • 10+ years full-time construction safety experience + OSHA 500 certification.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with two years construction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Observe job performance and identify site hazards to ensure OSHA/MSHA/EPA compliance.
  • Identify conditions that could cause accidents and communicate to management.
  • Participate in post-accident investigations and assist with documentation.
  • Communicate with injured employees and coordinate medical treatment.
  • Assist in developing Corporate Operating Procedures and safety policies.
  • Conduct safety trainings and new employee orientation.
  • Visit work sites weekly to audit and address hazards.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment for road-worthiness.
  • Assist in pre-job/shutdown planning with the Project Manager.
  • Engage with crews to build relationships and identify safety improvements.
  • Assist with customer prequalification applications.
  • Visit customer contacts and medical facilities to maintain relationships.
  • Attend customer safety meetings.
  • Counsel employees for policy infractions and coordinate disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain SDS sheets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Observes job performance and searches for any possible site hazards to ensure that MSS Solutions, LLC complies with all regulatory guidelines (OSHA, MSHA, EPA, etc.) and provides direction to management and employees for immediate actions if we are out of compliance.
  • Identifies conditions which could produce accidents and communicates to operation management so that conditions can be eliminated. Also communicates this to Safety Committee/Safety Coordinator so that information is shared between areas.
  • Integral member of team that conducts post-accident investigations and makes recommendations to prevent accident from reoccurring. Assists operation management on accident documentation.
  • Communicates with injured employee and accompanies the employee to initial and follow-up medical treatment to ensure that employee is taken care of and the physician understands employee’s duties and explanation of our light duty policy.
  • Assists in the continued development of Corporate Operating Procedures, policies and procedures for safety.
  • Conducts training on safety, new employee orientation, and drug testing of employees as required.
  • Visits selected work sites at least once a week to conduct audits following the audit sheet as well as identifying any hazards or abating any unsafe behaviors or conditions in the work area.
  • Visually inspects MSS Solutions, LLC vehicles and equipment for damage and road worthiness.
  • Assists in pre-job/shutdown planning whenever possible with the Project Manager.
  • Makes personal contact with the working crews to build relationships, addresses concerns and identifies improvement opportunities.
  • Assist operations with customer prequalification applications.
  • Visits customer contacts and medical facilities to maintain a strong, professional relationship.
  • Attends customer sponsored/mandated safety meetings.
  • Counsels/coaches employees when policy infractions are noted and inform appropriate supervision for additional counseling and possible disciplinary actions.
  • Maintains SDS sheets.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • 5 years of field safety experience (construction).
  • Professional safety certification or associate's degree desired.
  • Highly Preferred
  • Degreed Safety Professional with 12-15 years construction experience
  • 10 Years full-time construction safety experience + OSHA 500 certification
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with two years construction experience
  • Safety Management Professional (SMP) + OSHA 500 Certification
  • Candidate may be required to pass a Criminal background check based on job location/requirements.
  • Physical Demands: Constant sitting, walking short distances, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching above and/or below shoulder, handling/grasping documents or office equipment, clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in-person and/or on the telephone, vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data, repetitive motions for computer equipment use, lift 25 lbs. occasionally, 5-10 lbs. frequently to lift/carry/move objects, files and documents.
  • Also, occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing. Constant standing, walking, reaching and gripping. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting to 25 lbs., placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC).
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office environment with air conditioning and bright lights. There also may be exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working high exposure places.
