Job summary

Schnabel Engineering in Columbia, SC is seeking a dedicated Safety Coordinator to join our team. This full-time role supports projects across North America and may involve extensive travel, requiring a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and upholds a strong safety culture.

The position requires 40 hours per week, with field work, training development, inspections, and reporting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field, or equivalent experience.
U.S. Citizen (due to government contract requirements).
0-2 years of professional experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel.

Responsibilities

Report to the Health and Safety Officer (HSO).
Assist HSO and Risk Management with safety policies and procedures.
Provide site safety oversight on exploration or construction sites (usually under 1 week).
Assist Radiation Safety Officer with management of nuclear gauges.
Develop and conduct safety training on processes and reporting.
Develop site-specific health and safety plans to meet client requirements.
Develop activity hazard analyses to satisfy client needs.
Perform safety inspections and audits on projects.
Support documentation and reporting for safety.
