Job summary

Kokosing, Inc. is seeking a Safety Co-op to gain hands-on experience supporting project teams in promoting and maintaining a safe work environment.

You will work with safety professionals and leaders on regulatory compliance, hazard recognition, and safety planning on various projects across multiple states. The role offers exposure to construction safety practices, incident prevention, and training records, with opportunities to contribute to toolbox talks, site safety plans, and onboarding

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Safety, Construction, or related field.
• All student levels eligible; freshman to senior.
• Previous construction or safety experience beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Safety Specialists and project teams with implementing safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in project safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning discussions.
• Conduct jobsite walkthroughs to identify hazards and improvement opportunities.
• Assist with documenting safety inspections, observations, audits, and corrective actions.
• Support development and maintenance of project safety plans and training records.
• Help prepare and distribute safety communications and updates.
• Observe field operations and how safety requirements apply to construction or plant activities.
• Assist with incident reporting and investigations while learning root cause analysis.
• Support onboarding and orientation activities related to safety expectations.
• Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and safety personnel to foster safety culture.
• Maintain records and assist with data collection related to safety performance.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
