Job summary

IMMEC's Helton Electric unit seeks a Field Safety & Training Assistant to support safety and compliance programs. You will manage training delivery, data records, and field crew oversight, ensuring proper documentation and inspections across job sites.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable with data systems, and capable of operating in field environments with knowledge of utility distribution safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of administrative, safety, training, or compliance experience preferred or 3+ years in overhead/underground utility distribution.
  • OSHA Construction 10 or 30 Hour certification.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Strong data entry and document management skills.
  • Experience using databases or tracking systems (Quickbase, ISN, Avetta, or similar).
  • Experience training and presenting in front of large groups.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Must be able to meet MVR requirements to drive company vehicle.
  • Experience in overhead and/or underground utility distribution or transmission with knowledge of distribution safety policies (cover-up, minimum approach, grounding, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct new hire safety orientation and onboarding sessions.
  • Present safety training programs to employees in classroom and group settings.
  • Prepare training materials and assist with class setup and coordination.
  • Schedule and track required online training programs.
  • Maintain accurate training records and certifications.
  • Ensure shop and mobile equipment training documentation is completed and uploaded properly.
  • Assist in development and revision of safety procedures and site-specific safety plans.
  • Scan, upload, and maintain training records in company systems.
  • Track and schedule client-required online training.
  • Upload Certificates of Insurance (COIs), policies, and client-requested documentation.
  • Track JSA completions and equipment inspections daily.
  • Maintain electronic and physical safety files.
  • Print and assemble foreman binders and training packets as needed.
  • Conduct and document inspections (field crew inspections, equipment, materials).
  • Assist with incident investigations and report preparation.
  • Ensure hazardous waste is properly labeled and coordinate disposal.
  • Support safety reporting and documentation efforts.
  • Assist with compliance tracking across multiple crews or job sites.
  • Monitor, stock, and issue PPE.
  • Assist with dielectric tested materials inventory and records.
  • Assist with equipment dielectric inspection records.

Job description

The Field Safety & Training Assistant supports the company’s safety and compliance programs through administrative assistance, data management, training delivery and field crew oversight supporting Helton Electric, a IMMEC company. This role plays a key part in maintaining employee and company records, supporting incident investigations, and ensuring field crew safety through observations, assessments and frequent site inspections.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable with data entry/computer systems as well as comfortable working in a field-based environment, and has a strong working knowledge of utility distribution policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
Training & Orientation
  • Conduct new hire safety orientation and onboarding sessions. Including, but not limited to: classroom training and orientation, in-field assessments for various utility positions (i.e. Class A vs Class B linemen, groundmen, operators, etc.), new-hire assessments, etc.
  • Present safety training programs to employees in classroom and group settings.
  • Prepare training materials and assist with class setup and coordination.
  • Schedule and track required online training programs.
  • Maintain accurate training records and certifications.
  • Ensure shop and mobile equipment training documentation is completed and uploaded properly.

Data Entry & Documentation Management
  • Scan, upload, and maintain training records in company systems (e.g., Quickbase, ISN, Avetta or similar).
  • Track and schedule client-required online training.

  • Track Job Safety Analysis (JSA) completions and equipment inspections daily.
  • Maintain electronic and physical safety files.
  • Print and assemble foreman binders and training packets as needed.
Reporting & Compliance Support
  • Conduct and document inspections (field crew inspections, equipment, materials, etc.)
  • Assist with incident investigations, including documentation and report preparation.
  • Ensure hazardous waste is properly labeled and coordinate disposal.
  • Support safety reporting and documentation efforts.
  • Assist with compliance tracking across multiple crews or job sites.
Inventory & Equipment Support
  • Monitor, stock, and issue Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with documentation and distribution of dieletric tested materials, inventory expiration dates, crew swapping schedules, etc.
  • Assist with mobile and shop equipment dielectric inspection records and documentation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in an administrative, safety, training, or compliance-related role preferred OR experienced utility line worker with 3+ years’ experience in overhead or underground transmission and/or distribution
  • OSHA Construction 10 or 30 Hour

  • BLS Instructor Certification
  • Competent Person Certification(s)

Combination of office and shop/field environment.

May require standing, sitting or driving for extended periods of time.
