Job summary

Eka Robotics in Boston seeks a Forward Deployed Robotics Engineer to serve as the on-site technical expert for robotic manipulation systems. You will support robot deployments and company demos globally, analyze field tickets, reproduce issues, and drive root-cause resolution to ensure maximum fleet uptime.

This role emphasizes process improvement, clear documentation, and strong communication with hardware and software teams, with travel 50%+ to client sites for deployments and demonstrations.

Qualifications

• BS in Robotics, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, Electrical, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis on complex hardware-software systems in deployment.
• Experience parsing log files and writing diagnostic scripts in Python.
• Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software interactions in robotic systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for solo customer engagements and handoffs.

Responsibilities

• Deployment & Bring-Up: Build, deploy, configure, and troubleshoot robotic arms, grippers and camera systems on-site.
• Fleet Issue Triage: Manage fleet ticket queues and triage hardware, software, and operational failures.
• On-Site Diagnostics & Failure Analysis: Perform inspections, run tests, and RCA to reproduce field failures.
• Telemetry & Data Analysis: Analyze sensor data and logs to validate diagnostic hypotheses.
• Cross-Team Feedback: Collaborate with R&D to improve tooling and diagnostic features.
• Process Improvement: Create standard diagnostic procedures and flowcharts; report recurring issues to engineering.
• Documentation: Produce deployment docs and logs for third-party integrators.
• Field Operations: Travel 50%+ to lead on-site deployments and customer demos.
