Job summary

FM, a leading mutual insurance company, seeks Consultant Engineers I/II to perform hands-on site assessments of commercial properties, focusing on risk reduction and resilience for policyholder-owners. The role combines home-office work with travel to client facilities and daily site visits, aligning with FM's 200-year engineering standards.

You will start with learning assignments, then evaluate risks at larger properties, and communicate engineering recommendations to clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or fire protection.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Good analytical, organizational, problem solving skills.
• Efficient time management ability with work independently.
• Proven technical capability including diverse knowledge of engineering principles.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Physical ability to climb commercial ladders (inspect roofs), lift >25 lbs., and some clients require working in confined spaces.
• Proficient in MS Office products.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on site assessments of physical properties including roofs and conduct evaluations (water supply, dust hazards, chemical storage, rack storage) for client properties.
• Visit client facilities and perform evaluations to help clients reduce risks in their business and properties.
• Travel to client sites regularly, approximately 30% overnight travel; willing to travel to Natural Catastrophe sites as needed.
