Job summary

California Department of Conservation is seeking a Field and Regulatory Specialist (Engineering Geologist) for the Northern District’s Ventura office. Under the Senior Oil and Gas Engineer, you will perform field inspections, conduct geologic and engineering work, and support SB 1137 responsibilities including well and pipeline surveillance.

The position requires passing the Engineering Geologist exam, submission of a detailed STD 678, and an SOQ.

Qualifications

  • Must meet Engineering Geologist minimum qualifications as per CCR 249.3.
  • SOQ required; applications with SEE RESUME or SEE ATTACHED will not be considered.
  • Provide unofficial transcripts if using education to meet qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex field inspections of underground gas storage facilities (UGS) and UIC.
  • Conduct geologic and engineering analyses to support natural resource development.
  • Assist with permitting and SB 1137 responsibilities, including surveillance of wells, pipelines and facilities.
  • Coordinate inspections of environmental leases and related facilities.
