Job summary

DTSC seeks an experienced Engineering Geologist to join the Berkeley office. You will support environmental investigations and cleanups across Northern California, serving as a geologic engineering expert and reviewing complex documents to ensure geologic factors are properly considered in regulatory decisions.

You will use GIS and groundwater modeling tools, lead a team, and contribute to project management while advancing DTSC’s mission to protect California’s people and environment from toxic

Qualifications

• Post-graduate degree preferred.
• Experience in environmental consulting or regulatory agency experience.
• Current Professional Geologist or GIT certificate preferred.
• Proficiency in GIS.
• Proficiency in groundwater modeling.
• Experience in leading a team.
• Experience in project management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical expert on geologic engineering and interaction with contaminants in rock, soil, groundwater, and surface water media.
• Conduct reviews and prepare reports on environmental documents to ensure geologic conditions are properly considered in DTSC determinations.
• Utilize industry-standard tools such as models and GIS to provide expert consulting services.
