Job summary

Flagship Pioneering in Boulder, CO is seeking a UAS Systems Integration Engineer II to join our hardware team. You will drive the development of the autopilot stack, airframe integration, payload interfaces, and C2 linking, from prototype to field-ready system for precision scientific missions.

This hands-on role demands strong systems thinking, firmware/avionics experience, and collaboration in a small team; preferred background in ArduPilot/PX4, RF, and readable C++/Python, with eligibility

Qualifications

• BS/MS in aerospace/electrical/computer science or related field; hands-on integration experience in real missions.
• Proficient in C++ and Python with ArduPilot/PX4 experience; MAVLink knowledge.
• Experience with RF link design, long-range UAVs, and electronics integration.
• PCB design and fabrication experience a strong plus; Part 107 a plus or ability to obtain.
• Ability to work across firmware, avionics, and airframe in a small team.

Responsibilities

• Develop autopilot firmware and mission scripting for fixed-wing airframes.
• Read/modify ArduPilot source code to extend autopilot capabilities.
• Design and iterate airframes for payload capacity and endurance.
• Support flight tests: checks, telemetry setup, and rapid firmware/hardware fixes.
• Develop C2 link architecture and spectrum compliance strategies for BVLOS.
• Create ground station software and user interfaces for mission planning.
• Integrate and validate onboard science payloads and sensors.
• Analyze flight logs to diagnose issues and improve reliability.
• Document designs, test results, and changelogs for scalability.
