Job summary

Flagship Pioneering in Boulder, CO is seeking a Senior UAS Flight Test & Operations Engineer to lead BVLOS flight operations, waivers, and field deployments for a fixed-wing UAV platform. You will manage real-time mission monitoring, safety protocols, and collaboration with engineering teams to scale from prototypes to production-grade ops across international environments.

Qualifications

FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required.
BVLOS waivers, COA applications, or international UAS regulatory frameworks experience preferred.
Experience with fixed-wing UAV flight operations in real-mission contexts.
Proficient in mission planning and real-time monitoring for field campaigns.
Strong documentation habits for regulatory review and scaling.

Responsibilities

Lead BVLOS operations planning and flight test execution.
Lead flight testing of a fixed-wing airframe from initial flights to design validation.
Own FAA Part 107 waiver strategy, COA applications, and international regulatory compliance.
Develop and maintain SOPs, pre-flight checklists, and emergency protocols for campaigns.
Serve as primary PIC for fixed-wing UAV missions and manage RC proficiency during tests.
Analyze flight logs to diagnose anomalies and improve mission reliability.
Coordinate with meteorological resources for go/no-go decisions.
Document flight operations and lessons learned for scalability.
