Job summary

Watco is seeking a Signal Maintainer to support inspection, maintenance, repair, and installation of railroad signal systems across various sites. This role works with electrical, mechanical, and electronic components and travels with a mobile crew for safe, reliable operation.

The position emphasizes safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork, with opportunities for on-the-job training and advancement within a supportive Watco environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in railroad signal maintenance or related technical field preferred.
• Ability to learn railroad signal rules and procedures.
• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Strong attention to safety and reliability.
• Willing to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair, and install railroad signal and crossing systems.
• Install signal equipment, foundations, masts, and cabinets per plans.
• Wire, terminate, splice, and test signal and communications cable.
• Assist with system upgrades, relocations, and commissioning.
• Work as part of mobile signal crew under a Signal Foreman.
• Maintain tools, vehicles, and organize job sites.
• Follow FRA, safety, and company standards; work nights/weekends as required.
• Travel to multiple locations to support operations.
