Job summary

Sperry Rail Service is seeking a motivated Trainee/Apprentice to undergo comprehensive training at the Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection and gain field experience across the US. This role requires extensive travel and will develop you into a Certified Operator capable of leading a crew.

During paid training, you will earn $20.00 per hour, with promotion to a $60,000 annual base salary upon certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to multitask and work with tools/equipment.
• Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and DOT physical (where applicable).

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete training at the Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection.
• Learn rail detection methods across Short Line and Class I railways.
• Achieve ultrasonic testing certification in the field.
• Work as part of a crew and develop leadership to eventually lead a team.
• Travel to multiple job sites for extended periods (3–4 months).
