Job summary

tms is seeking a Field Quality Manager to lead the field quality strategy for packaging, ensuring protection, performance and functionality meet consumer expectations. You will spend most of your time in the field building strong relationships with customers and suppliers, applying packaging QA expertise and HAVI protocols.

You will assess packaging performance, handle issues, support new product launches, and travel up to 75% to visit restaurants and customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in packaging and 5 years in food packaging or QA.
  • Strong communication and relationship-management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% field visits.
  • Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong rapport with new and existing customers and suppliers at multiple levels and manage quality-related communications with them in the field
  • Support packaging innovation concepts activities and Project Alliance initiatives
  • Domestic travel including local and/or overnight up to 75%
  • Perform field surveys of finished product in the restaurants throughout assigned division to ensure all products conform to predetermined standards and specifications.
  • Report survey results to a central data management system through a variety of technologies and mobile devices.
  • Establish and grow relationships with partners (owner/operators, regional staff and relevant partners) and be the primary communication link for QA issues for McDonald’s Field Team and restaurants.
  • Identify key partners and influencers and leverage those relationships to improve the HAVI/McD partnership.
  • Attend strategic customer meetings within assigned division (ROAs, co-op meetings, etc.)
  • Become our customer’s quality resource for assigned division; be a true packaging “go-to”.
  • Investigate special situations and assist with product recoveries when necessary

Role Overview

The Field Quality Manger will be responsible for executing the tms field quality strategy— ensuring that packaging provides the required level of protection, performance and functionality to meet consumer demands. This individual will spend the majority of time in the field communicating, interacting and building strong relationships with customers at many levels to learn their business and structure and apply packaging quality expertise. Excellent communication skills, relationship-management skills and organizational skills are essential. Individual will assess packaging performance, react to packaging issues using HAVI protocol and assist with new product launches

  • Broad technical background
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Field Quality experience
  • Business travel experience
  • Ability to work remotely and independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Effective and professional communication/relationship-management skills
  • Excellent time-management skills, including travel
  • Solid statistical/mathematical skills
  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement techniques
  • Process/technical knowledge
  • Positive approach to solving challenges of the business and overcoming obstacles
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in an efficient manner

Starting salary between $108,750 - $115,000
