Job summary

Gray Construction is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support project teams by executing inspections, audits, and documentation to ensure construction activities comply with approved plans and the QMS. This role emphasizes learning and applying quality processes in the field.

The ideal candidate has a related degree, 2–3 years of quality or construction experience, and proficiency with basic MS Office tools. The role requires up to full travel and offers varied field opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or technical/associate degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of relevant construction or quality experience preferred.
• Government Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and email.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as onsite quality representative on projects under quality leadership.
• Review and manage submittals during preconstruction and coordination meetings; verify approved submittals, materials, and installations.
• Monitor construction processes to identify potential quality issues and support resolution.
• Execute and document inspections, audits, and testing per ITPs and project quality plans.
• Ensure drawings, specifications, submittals, and quality documentation are accurate and maintained.
• Identify, document, and track quality observations, deficiencies, and non-conforming work; coordinate corrective actions.
• Support management of hold points and release in coordination with Quality Site Leadership.
• Assist in managing special inspections and third-party inspections, including coordination and documentation.
• Coordinate use of the Quality Management System (QMS) for auditing, reporting, and documentation.
• Establish and manage To-Do Lists, punch lists, and observation tracking.
• Read, interpret, and apply quality manuals and project-specific quality plans.
• Support implementation and follow-through of corrective actions.
