Job summary

KALCON seeks an experienced Field Project Manager to support mission-critical data center construction projects, acting as an extension of the Owner's Representative team and providing day-to-day field oversight, coordination of contractors, scheduling, QA, commissioning readiness, and turnover on-site.

The role requires strong leadership, ability to read drawings, manage RFIs/submittals, track milestones, and coordinate interfaces across base-building, tenant fit-out, and live facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CM/Engineering/Architecture or related field.
• 5+ years in large-scale infrastructure, data center, or mission-critical projects.
• Experience as Field Manager or similar leadership role.
• Knowledge of means & methods, scheduling, QA/QC, safety, and closeout.
• Experience coordinating contractors and stakeholders in active sites.
• Ability to read drawings, specs, schedules and documents.
• Experience tracking RFIs, submittals, procurements, and inspections.
• Familiarity with CPM scheduling and milestone tracking.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain active field presence and observe conformance with docs and design intent.
• Assess progress, validate completion, and flag constraints early.
• Coordinate base-building, tenant fit-out, and live-facility interfaces.
• Coordinate owner, GC, direct vendors, and third‑party activities in the field.

Job description

KALCON is seeking an experienced and proactive Field Project Manager to support the successful delivery of mission-critical data center construction projects. Acting as an extension of the Owner's Representative team, this role provides day-to-day field oversight and coordination of construction activities, contractor performance, project interfaces, schedule execution, quality assurance, commissioning readiness, and project turnover. The Field Manager serves as the owner's on-site representative and works closely with contractors, consultants, vendors, commissioning teams, operations personnel, and other stakeholders to support safe, efficient, and successful project delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience supporting commercial, industrial, mission-critical, data center, healthcare, manufacturing, or large-scale infrastructure construction projects.
• Experience serving as a Field Manager, Field Engineer, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Assistant Construction Manager, Owner's Representative, Project Engineer, or similar construction leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, project sequencing, scheduling, procurement, quality control, safety practices, commissioning, and project closeout processes.
• Experience coordinating contractors, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and owner stakeholders in active construction environments.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and technical project documentation.
• Experience tracking and coordinating RFIs, submittals, procurement activities, inspections, commissioning activities, turnover requirements, and project documentation.
• Familiarity with CPM schedules, look‑ahead planning, milestone tracking, and construction progress reporting.
• Working knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, contractor safety programs, and punch‑list management.
• Experience supporting projects in occupied facilities, live environments, phased turnovers, or operational settings preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and construction management platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Unifier, or similar systems.
• Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with contractors, consultants, vendors, clients, and project stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced construction environment.
• Ability to perform regular site walks and provide field‑based oversight throughout all phases of construction.
• Ability to travel as required based on project assignments.

Duties and Responsibilities

Daily Field Management

• Maintain an active field presence and observe construction activities for general conformance with contract documents, approved submittals, design intent, project requirements, and planned
• Assess daily and weekly progress, validate reported completion, and identify emerging constraints before they affect cost, schedule, safety, quality, commissioning, or
• Coordinate base‑building, tenant fit‑out, retrofit, and live‑facility interfaces, including site access, logistics, deliveries, work areas, temporary conditions, and phased
• Coordinate owner, general contractor, fit‑out contractor, direct vendor, and third‑party activities in the field
• Support MOP, shutdown, notification, energization, startup, and other critical‑work

Schedule, Procurement and Document Coordination

• Track day‑to‑day schedule performance, critical activities, near‑term look‑aheads, constraints, and recovery
• Participate in weekly CPM reviews, detailed planning meetings, subcontractor coordination sessions, and vendor startup
• Track RFIs, submittals, procurement items, OFCI equipment, owner‑direct vendors, inspections, and required decisions that affect field
• Coordinate customer or tenant fit‑out milestones with base‑building completion and turnover
• Document significant events, differing conditions, rework, access limitations, and potential change

Quality, Safety, Cost and Closeout Support

• Provide general oversight of contractor ǪA/ǪC and safety implementation and promptly elevate observed deficiencies or
• Participate in regular site walks, punch‑list reviews, inspections, and correction
• Support review of pay applications, change requests, buyout information, and field quantities by validating actual site conditions and
• Lead or support OAC and field coordination meetings, weekly reporting, meeting minutes, and action
• Coordinate project closeout, including punch lists, OCM manuals, training, operations turnover, permits, AHJ inspections, certificates of occupancy, and financial closeout
