Job summary

Viasat in Tempe is seeking a Project Controls Analyst to join the Ground Network Deployment team. This role blends field work with office analytics, owning costs, schedules, and the stories they tell for multi-million-dollar satellite ground infrastructure programs.

You will build schedules in MS Project, apply Earned Value Management, and drive monthly closes, with opportunities to pilot AI-enabled PMO tools. The position is hybrid: in the Tempe office at least 3 days per week with remote days.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience in a Project Controls or Program Controls Analyst role with field experience on technical infrastructure or construction programs
• Associate's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field or verifiable equivalent experience
• Advanced MS Excel skills: pivot tables, XLOOKUP and VLOOKUP, conditional formatting, reporting and data visualization
• Working knowledge of Earned Value Management, cost baseline management and Estimates at Completion
• Experience with contract controls: processing work authorizations, purchase orders, change orders, invoices, and contract compliance
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present to directors and senior leadership
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
• US Citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Track, analyze, and communicate cost commitments across programs; establish baselines, EAC, and EVMs
• Build and status deployment schedules in MS Project; coordinate with IT, Facilities, Security, Engineering, Finance
• Forecast completion costs using trends and what‑if analysis; identify risks and plan recovery
• Conduct site visits to evaluate progress and mitigate delays
• Process Contracts, POs, COs, Invoices and ensure contract compliance
• Prepare, consolidate, and analyze project reports; maintain databases and portals
• Lead recurring program status meetings and document actions
• Pilot AI-driven tools for automated reporting and cost/schedule analytics
