Job summary

State of Vermont in Rutland, VT is seeking an Interim Probation and Parole Officer to supervise and support offenders in community settings. The role involves designing and monitoring services to meet clients’ immediate and long-range needs, as well as addressing the needs of victims and the community through restorative planning.

Incumbents will participate in risk control and risk management as part of a supervision team, with field travel and occasional after-hours duties required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a closely related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent or higher AND three (3) years or more experience in human services casework OR related fields such as mental health/addiction counseling, residential treatment, juvenile justice, direct service legal work, emergency services, corrections, law enforcement, military service, or similar roles.

Responsibilities

• Specialized professional casework, social work, counseling, unit program direction, or restorative services for the Department of Corrections providing services to offenders in community setting.
• Duties include designing, administering, and monitoring services for a client's immediate and long-range needs.
• Duties involve supervision and monitoring of an assigned caseload of offenders in the Pre-Approved Furlough, Supervised Community Sentence, Probation, Parole, or furlough re-integration.
