Job summary

Bureau Veritas seeks a Petroleum Inspector for Port Arthur, TX to perform sampling and quantity surveys of shore tanks, vessels, railcars, and trucks at client facilities. The role requires safety-conscious, detail-oriented individuals with the ability to handle diverse samples and meet regulatory standards.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and 2–4 years of related experience. Expect on-site work, occasional travel, and on-call duties. Competitive pay and benefits are provided.

• 2–4 years of related experience and/or training.
• Proficiency in shore tanks, trucks, rail cars, pipelines, and barges.
• Knowledge of company HS&E procedures and associated governmental regulations.
• Dependable, able to work independently and communicate effectively with clients.
• Demonstratable capacity to learn quickly and solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Receives orders, obtains information, and gathers paperwork from Operations Supervisors on commodity movements.
• Ensures that all equipment is in good operating condition – clean and calibrated; includes safety and monitoring equipment for the job.
• Reports to job-site punctually and observes all applicable regulations and standards.
• Attends "Key Meetings" with external personnel ashore and/or abroad.
• Represents Bureau Veritas by appearance and conduct.
• Behaves ethically at all times.
• Communicates problems or discrepancies to the Operations Supervisor/Dispatcher without delay.
• Obtains samples and gauges shore tanks, vessels, barges, railcars, and/or tank trucks as specified per job order.
• Labels sample containers with full identifying data including location, material, and safety info.
• Calculates quantities and completes required paperwork; distributes copies from the field.
• Delivers samples to a Bureau Veritas lab or client facilities for analysis.
• Reviews discrepancies with Operations Supervisor, signs and returns the job order form.
• Meets site-specific requirements and passes company-defined physical requirements for access.
• Maintains a 24-hour on-call status.
• Attends company meetings as required.

Education

High school diploma or GED

2-4 years of related experience and/or training

Proficiency in shore tanks, trucks, rail cars, pipelines, and barges

Knowledge of company HS&E procedures and associated governmental regulations
