Job summary

LCMC Health in Louisiana is seeking a dedicated EMS Paramedic to join our patient‑centered team. You will perform primary and secondary surveys, ensure airway management, control bleeding, and coordinate rapid transport to the nearest appropriate facility.

Applicants must have 2 years EMS experience, a High School Diploma/GED, and licenses including NREMT-P and EMT-P LA, ACLS and PALS within 6 months. We value courage, teamwork, and compassionate care in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• 2 years EMS related experience required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• EMT-P/NREMT-P and LA state license credentials emphasized; ACLS/PALS within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Performs primary and secondary surveys on patients to identify illnesses or injuries.
• Manages airway equipment and maintains patent airway with appropriate devices.
• Controls major bleeding and applies pressure, elevation, or tourniquets as needed.
• Transports patients to nearest suitable facility and communicates with medical control.

GENERAL DUTIES

• Performs a primary and secondary survey on every patient to ensure that all illnesses or injuries are found and treated rapidly.
• Ensures that all the proper equipment is brought to the patient to begin immediate medical care as required.
• Ensures that the patient maintains a patent airway and uses several different airway devices up to the ET tube based on the situation.
• Controls all major bleeding and uses acceptable techniques when applying direct pressure, elevation or pressure points to the use of a tourniquet.
• Transports patients safely and to the facility of choice on all calls and recognizes the need to transport critical patient to the closest hospital.
• Contacts medical control and relays patient reports over the radio to the physician in-charge and follows direct order to continue care while in transport to the hospital.
• Documents in descriptive legible form on the PCR the patient’s condition, noting initial impression, medical history and any treatment rendered noting pertinent negatives/positives.
• Keeps dispatch informed of departures, arrivals and any other related important information via the radio at all times.
• Applies the needed skills to replace and repackage all equipment that is used during a call.

Experience Qualifications

2 years of EMS related experience required.

Education Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• NREMT-P
• EMT-P State of La
• CPR Certification
• Defensive Driving
• Hazmat Awareness
• ACLS
• PALS within 6 months
• CPI within 90 days
• Chauffer’s license or equivalent
