Job summary

AFSCME Council 13 seeks an Organizer to plan and execute campaigns across Pennsylvania, recruiting and developing worker-leaders and directing field operations. The role requires extensive travel, home visits, and public speaking to advance organizing efforts in a dynamic union environment.

The Organizer will work with local leadership, maintain campaign data, and train volunteers to support contract campaigns while upholding AFSCME’s organizing model and guiding principles.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and a minimum of two years of union organizing experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement organizing campaigns leveraging the AFSCME Organizing Model and Principles.
• Identify, recruit, and develop worker activists and leaders.
• Conduct home and work site visits for one-on-one organizing conversations and recruit supporters.
• Lead worker mobilizations, organize committees and trainings, and maintain campaign timelines.
