Job summary

Critical Loop is seeking a Site Operations Engineer to support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of our mobile BESS fleet and other distributed energy systems. You will ensure safe field operations, maximize uptime, and collaborate with controls and software teams on testing and validation of control logic.

This hands-on, customer-facing role requires independent work on-site, strong technical skills in power electronics and electrical safety, and a focus on rapid issue resolution to

Qualifications

• Experience operating battery energy storage systems in the field.
• Hands-on power electronics, maintenance, and troubleshooting across hardware and software.
• Experience with 480V+ systems and safe de-energization procedures.
• Experience using controls software to monitor energy systems.
• Customer-facing experience with strong communication skills.
• Able to work independently on a job site.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage fleet scheduling, dispatch, deployment, and retrieval to ensure reliable service delivery across active sites.
• Oversee site readiness, electrical connections, grounding, and system startup during deployments.
• Execute commissioning of battery energy storage and power systems in the field with safe de-energized checks.
• Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize fleet uptime.
• Lead hands-on troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, battery, and power electronics issues.
• Coordinate logistics, transportation, staging, and heavy equipment movement for deployments.
• Operate and test system control logic and state transitions across modes.
• Maintain documentation on fleet status, maintenance, telemetry, and performance.
• Communicate field findings to engineering and customers with timelines.
