Job summary

Rwdy-Inc is seeking a Field Operator III - Automation Technician in Carlsbad, NM. The role provides automation and instrumentation support for Southeast New Mexico oil and gas operations with a pay of $55.30/hr.

Local candidates or those willing to relocate are encouraged; start ASAP with a tentative end date one year from starting. You will install and maintain PLCs, transmitters, HMIs, and SCADA systems, perform lockout/tagout, promote safety, and collaborate with a team in extreme outdoor

Qualifications

• Experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing PLCs and automation equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits and components.
• Familiarity with SCADA, transmitters, HMIs, and communications gear.
• Understanding of oil and gas production equipment and operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel/Outlook).
• Must be safety-conscious and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to learn and follow directions from experienced personnel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and install Automation and I&E equipment including PLCs, transmitters, comms gear, and HMIs.
• Use SCADA systems to monitor operations.

Scope

This position provides Automation and Instrumentation & Electrical support to Southeast New Mexico oil and gas operations.

Job Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team to maintain and install Automation and I&E equipment, including PLC components, wired and wireless transmitters, communications equipment, and HMIs.
• Use SCADA systems to monitor operations.
• Perform lockout/tagout procedures on required equipment.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
• Perform other operational duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required

• Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair PLCs, ABB Totalflows, Fisher ROCs, transmitters, and related automation equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits and components.
• Knowledge of communications equipment, including FreeWave, XetaWave, Red Lion, ABB, Cambium, and fiber-optic systems.
• Understanding of oil and gas production equipment and operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
• Safety-conscious, team-oriented self-starter who works well with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced facility and Automation/I&E personnel.
• Ability to become certified to work at heights using appropriate fall protection.
• Ability to work in extreme outdoor temperatures.
• Once adequately trained, availability to participate in a callout rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Availability to work late as needed.
