Job summary

Omega Contractors is seeking a Field Operations Technician to support installation, maintenance, repair, and customer service across the United States. Role Description

The Field Operations Technician is a full-time, 100% travel position supporting equipment installation, maintenance, repair, and customer service at customer locations throughout the United States. This position requires extensive travel and the ability to work independently at customer facilities while representing Omega Contractors professionally.

The technician will primarily support Bystronic machines and related equipment, performing electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. The technician will work closely with customers, project managers, service teams, and other personnel to ensure equipment is installed and operating safely and according to specifications.

In addition to hands-on technical work, the Field Operations Technician is responsible for documenting service activities, communicating equipment and project status, assisting customers with equipment operation and maintenance, and tracking technical and quality-related issues through resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and complete electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic installations at customer locations.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Bystronic machines and related equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and basic technical issues.
  • Perform machine inspections, testing, commissioning, and operational support as required.
  • Complete and communicate required documentation, including:
  • Service reports
  • Support request forms
  • Customer feedback
  • Installation and service documentation in the CRM
  • Follow established quality procedures and identify or initiate quality improvements in accordance with ISO guidelines.
  • Instruct customers on:
  • Machine safety
  • Proper equipment operation
  • Basic and preventative maintenance procedures
  • Provide customers with technical advice and recommendations when required.
  • Assist customers with physical activities related to installations and service, including loading and unloading equipment when necessary.
  • Identify required spare parts, request parts from stock, and coordinate delivery of parts to customer locations.
  • Assist with the preparation and consultation of sales and service offers when technical input is required.
  • Support the installation, setup, demonstration, and operation of machines at trade fairs, exhibitions, and customer events.
  • Take ownership of assigned quality complaints, including troubleshooting, documentation, communication, tracking, and follow-through until resolution.
  • Communicate job status, technical issues, customer concerns, and project needs clearly to the appropriate internal teams.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with customers and represent Omega Contractors appropriately while working at customer facilities.
  • Follow all Omega Contractors, customer, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements.
Qualifications
  • Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing industrial machinery or automated equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, manuals, and equipment documentation.
  • Ability to diagnose technical problems systematically and work toward an effective resolution.
  • Experience with industrial machinery, CNC equipment, automation systems, or Bystronic equipment is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for working directly with customers and internal teams.
  • Ability to accurately complete service reports and maintain documentation within a CRM or similar system.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and established procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while traveling.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company travel requirements.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical, electrical, mechanical, or vocational training is preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment, use hand and power tools, and perform physically demanding work in industrial environments.
  • Ability to work at customer facilities and adapt to varying schedules, working conditions, and project requirements.
Travel Requirements

This position requires 100% travel. The Field Operations Technician will travel to customer sites as required for machine installations, service calls, repairs, preventative maintenance, training, trade fairs, exhibitions, and other field assignments.

Candidates must be comfortable with frequent overnight travel and extended periods away from home based on customer and project requirements. Work schedules and travel locations may vary depending on service needs.
