Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Field Operations Manager to join our growing team and ensure the successful deployment of industrial LiDAR systems across a wide range of customer environments. This role is critical in bridging the gap between engineering design and real‑world implementation. You will be responsible not only for pre‑commissioning tasks, but also for overseeing and executing the physical installation of LiDAR systems in the field. Your work will directly contribute to the accurate and reliable integration of LiDAR technology into industrial applications such as volume measurement, perimeter security, and infrastructure monitoring.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Project Planning, Deployment, and Coordination
    • Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables related to pre‑commissioning and installation phases.
    • Develop comprehensive deployment and installation plans, detailing all tasks, required resources, responsibilities, and timelines.
    • Coordinate field activities with internal engineering teams, system integrators, subcontractors, and end customers to ensure on‑time and on‑budget execution.
  2. System Installation & On‑Site Setup
    • Travel to customer locations to physically install Blickfeld LiDAR systems, ensuring proper mounting, alignment, and environmental protection of all hardware.
    • Set up and interconnect system components including:
    • Blickfeld LiDAR sensors
    • Network switches and power supplies (e.g., PoE, solar, UPS)
    • Cellular modems and communication infrastructure
    • Edge compute devices or industrial PCs
    • Confirm system placement based on digital simulations and installation plans (e.g., correct height, angle, and location).
    • Conduct on‑site cabling, weatherproofing, power‑up procedures, and final equipment checks.
    • Support lifting and rigging activities as required (with contractor assistance as necessary).
  3. Pre‑Commissioning & System Validation
    • Validate wireless and wired network connectivity, update firmware, install necessary drivers, and test system responsiveness.
    • Perform incoming quality inspections and full system validation (kit test) before field deployment.
  4. Documentation & Installation Reporting
    • Develop customer‑facing installation documentation based on simulated models and field configurations, including:
    • Sensor layout, orientation, and height
    • Electrical and data connectivity schematics
    • IP address assignments and sensor serial numbers
    • Environmental and operational constraints
    • Maintain detailed logs of all installation and commissioning activities, including photos, issues encountered, and resolutions.
    • Generate completion reports and field documentation for customer and internal records.
  5. Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and best practices during installation and commissioning activities.
    • Conduct job hazard assessments and ensure the appropriate use of PPE and site‑specific safety measures.
    • Work with EHS personnel or site supervisors to obtain installation permits and access clearances as needed.
  6. Customer Interaction & Continuous Improvement
    • Act as a field liaison for customer concerns, questions, and feedback during installation.
    • Suggest and implement improvements to field deployment procedures and tools to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
    • Stay informed about the latest advancements in LiDAR technology, installation methods, and field engineering best practices.
