Job summary

Texas A&M Forest Service in Kirbyville, Texas, seeks a Resource Specialist I to support District Operations and ensure programs run smoothly within the Jasper District. Responsibilities include map prep, data collection, client interactions, and education on fire prevention and conservation.

The role requires ability to operate heavy equipment, meet fitness standards, and respond promptly during emergencies, with duties extending to occasional out-of-state assignments as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: 2-year natural resources related technical degree.
• No prior experience required.
• Preferred: similar position with company or agency.

Responsibilities

• Supports District Forester with delivery of Field Operation programs, including maps, data, and management plans.
• Interacts with clientele and leads conservation education and fire prevention activities.
• Operates heavy firefighting equipment and serves as a wildland firefighter during emergencies.
• Manages assigned credit cards, vehicles, and equipment and ensures proper maintenance and costing.
• Meets annual fitness standards and responds within 30 minutes to emergencies.
