Position Summary: The Solar and BESS Field Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day field operations and maintenance activities of solar PV and battery energy storage systems across multiple sites. Reporting directly to the Head of Field Services, this role ensures optimal system performance, operational efficiency, and safety compliance. The manager leads a team of field technicians and coordinates with engineering, asset management, and compliance teams to deliver high uptime, manage corrective and preventive maintenance, and implement best practices. This position plays a key role in enhancing customer satisfaction, ensuring contractual obligations are met, and driving continuous improvement in field service operations.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage day to day field operations
  • Take necessary corrective action in accordance with established procedures and update procedures when necessary
  • Continually evaluate the maintenance procedures and adjust conditions to optimize maintenance cost effectiveness, work quality, outage time and availability
  • Develop and implement training programs to maximize the effectiveness of the Field Operations staff.
  • Prepare required reports for the owner and/or utility
  • Oversee and manage all sub-contractors’ activities.
  • Maintain site operations & maintenance manuals and assure that operating policies and procedures are kept up-to-date in accordance with national, regional and local labor and operational controlling entities.
  • Assist with the location, screening and hiring of Field Operations personnel
  • Stress the importance that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees and sub-contractors follow safe practices while working
  • Coordinate 3rd party and HCU Technical Service Team with scheduling, maintenance, and repairs on contracted projects
  • Review contract conditions: ensure compliance with all contract terms and conditions, supply feedback to assist with contract effectiveness
  • Ensures technicians have the resources to complete their work
  • Provide insight to improve efficiency within other divisions of HCU
  • Manage monthly meetings with clients in alignment with Business Operations, Technical Operations and ROC
  • Ability to work on call after regular working hours as needed to support ROC
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned
  • Education and/or Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in power generation or similar continuous process environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and processes preferred.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • Remote with 25% travel
  • Able to lift 50lbs if needed
  • Able to work in Hot and cold temperatures
