Job summary

Remington Seeds LLC in Ohio seeks a Field Operations Manager to oversee field production activities for soybean and wheat seed. This role partners with Location and Plant Operations Managers to ensure safety, cost-effectiveness, and quality across the production cycle.

Responsibilities include supervising field staff, training growers, and maintaining the Quality Management System while coordinating bulk seed delivery and reporting to customers.

Qualifications

• A four-year college degree in Agriculture preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience in seed production or related field is beneficial.
• Strong computer skills are required.
• Good communication and team-building abilities are essential.
• Attention to detail and well-organized work style.

Responsibilities

• Supervise field production activities and seasonal staff.
• Recruit, hire, and supervise temporary and seasonal employees.
• Provide daily supervision of full-time field production staff.
• Assist with implementing and maintaining the Quality Management System for field production.
• Train growers on proper production techniques to ensure seed quality.
• Coordinate delivery of bulk seed to the facility.
• Monitor on-farm storage conditions and collect bin samples for quality analysis.
• Supervise scouting of soybean and wheat acres and compile required customer reports.

Description

The Field Operations Manager reports to the Location Manager and has direct responsibility for all field activities associated with the production of soybean and wheat seed. These activities include but are not limited to grower recruiting, grower contracting, grower development training, and field production activities. The Field Operations Manager works closely with the Location Manager to ensure that all processes are conducted in a safe and cost-effective manner, and that continuous improvement occurs in all areas of responsibility. The Field Operations Manager works closely with the Plant Operations Manager in order to ensure quantity and quality requests for each customer are met. Other responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Employee safety training and compliance to safety programs.
• Hire, train, and supervise temporary & seasonal employees.
• Provide daily supervision of full-time employees working within the field production process.
• Assist with implementing and maintaining the Quality Management System within the field production process.
• Assist and train growers on proper production techniques needed to ensure good seed quality.
• Assist in coordinating delivery of bulk seed to the facility.
• Monitor on-farm storage conditions and acquires bin samples for quality analysis.
• Supervise scouting of soybean and wheat acres, and supply required customer reporting information.

Requirements

• A 4-year college degree in Agriculture preferred but no mandatory
• Agricultural background is beneficial
• Computer skills required, advanced skills preferred
• Understanding of seed production or minimum of four years of related experience
• Excellent communications skills with positive attitude
