Job summary

The City of Sugar Land, TX is seeking a Field Operations Manager in the Utilities Department. You will lead a team managing water distribution, wastewater collection and revenue metering with focus on preventive maintenance and public safety.

Responsibilities include budgeting, staffing, regulatory compliance and emergency readiness, with opportunities for professional development within our organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive supervisory experience in water distribution/meters.
• Municipal experience is a plus.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver's License required; TCEQ Class D Water Operator License or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction, operations, repair and preventive maintenance of the City’s water distribution, revenue metering and wastewater collection systems.
• Recruit, hire, onboard and manage field staff’s training, performance and development.
• Assign and direct staff and contractors’ work priorities to meet division programs within service levels.
• Ensure field work complies with applicable regulatory requirements and procedures.
• Manage the division’s operating budget in compliance with city policies.
• Supervise inventory of resources including tools, vehicles, and equipment.
• Serve as an essential employee before, during and after emergencies.
• Schedule, direct and coordinate first responder staff during emergencies when on-call.
• Performs other duties as directed by the Director.
