Job summary

Solvus Global is seeking a decisive Field Operations Engineering Lead to drive engineering projects across hybrid manufacturing work cells, including on-site leadership in Worcester, MA.

We are seeking a decisive, hands-on tactical leader to fill the role of Field Operations Engineering Lead. This high-impact position is designed for an engineering professional who thrives at the intersection of complex systems integration, advanced manufacturing, and frontline execution. As the leader of our expeditionary deployment team, you will maintain high-level ownership of project delivery while remaining completely willing to "jump in the trenches and turn wrenches" alongside your team to overcome technical bottlenecks.

This is a dual-environment leadership role. Day-to-day activities will include engineering and engineering project management across the Solvus portfolio. This will largely involve design, development, and operation of hybrid manufacturing work cells. While based out of our central Massachusetts facility for operational readiness and planning, your primary leadership impact occurs during high-stakes global repair deployments. When called upon for international shipyard or in-field operations you will directly manage, mentor, and direct a diverse on-site technicians and engineers under intense scrutiny. Simultaneously, you will serve as the primary on-site point of contact and strategic liaison for Navy leadership. You will be responsible for translating complex technical data into clear, confident daily briefings and required qualification documentation and permits for review by shipyard technicians through high-ranking officers, while seamlessly coordinating material and human resources across Solvus and external shipyard teams.

Required Attributes & Skills

• Must be a US Person according to FAR22 CFR 120.15 -US Person
• Minimum of 5+ years of professional engineering experience, including at least 3+ years of demonstrated technical team leadership or supervisory experience in high-stakes environments
• Background knowledge of advanced additive manufacturing processes, with specific exposure to or experience with Cold Spray technologies
• Experience acting as the primary on-site interface for military leadership and shipyard customers; ability to synthesize complex technical data into clear action plans and confident daily briefings for high-ranking officials
• Demonstrated track record of maintaining high-level ownership of project delivery from inception to successful completion. Proven ability to autonomously assemble, organize, and regularly communicate clear action and delivery plans to stakeholders under tight resource constraints
• Proven capability to direct, manage, and protect a diverse team during rapid-response deployments under intense operational pressure
• A "jack-of-all-trades" technical aptitude combining rapid design capabilities with hands- on fabrication experience (sheet metal, temporary HVAC/dust collection, electrical, and high-pressure gas systems)
• Ready for long-duration (2+ weeks at a time) global travel on short notice up to 4 times per year to potentially austere locations, with high resilience to sudden shifts in project priorities and work intensity
• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50 lbs of field equipment unassisted, paired with the physical agility to safely navigate confined spaces, vertical ladders, and uneven surfaces typical of naval vessels and active shipyard environments

Advantageous Attributes & Skills

• B.S. in Mechanical, Materials, Marine, or Aerospace Engineering, OR equivalent hands- on shipyard technical leadership experience
• Direct operational experience navigating the logistical, safety, and cultural environments of commercial or U.S. Navy shipyards.

Pay Range:

$100,000 - $160,000
