Job summary

Kiewit is offering an internship opportunity in the Eastern District focused on construction management and field engineering. Interns will participate in real-world projects, learn core duties, and gain exposure to large-scale infrastructure work across transportation and energy sectors.

Students pursuing civil or related engineering degrees will develop planning, safety, and teamwork skills, with relocation as needed and a commitment to hands-on learning and excellence.

Qualifications

• Willingness to travel or relocate as needed.
• Ability to work full-time during the summer (May–August).
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, electrical engineering, construction management or related field.
• Ability to access all points of a construction site in varying climates and environments.
• Demonstrated motivation, strong work ethic, and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating & supervision of field activities.
• Performing engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handling minor problems of a technical nature arising during construction.
• Maintaining records regarding job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
• Planning and scheduling of job and/or job segments.
• Investigating problems and/or incidents and recommending solutions.
• Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing.
