Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Field Network Engineer to join a remote support team, servicing clients across various locations with a focus on on-site deployments and travel. You will design, deploy, and maintain complex networks, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability while coordinating with clients remotely.

The role requires extensive routing, switching, VPN and security knowledge, with strong problem-solving and communication skills for effective client interaction and team

Qualifications

• Minimum senior-level experience as a Network Engineer or similar role.
• Deep understanding of routing protocols, switching, VPNs, and security.
• Experience with multiple hardware vendors and management platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for complex issues.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Network Engineer to join their remote support team, servicing clients across various locations, with a focus on the Randburg area. This role involves deploying, configuring, and maintaining complex network infrastructures at client sites, often requiring travel and on-site problem resolution, while being managed remotely. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, security, and reliability of our clients' networks, working with state-of-the-art technology. This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys autonomy, strategic problem-solving, and making a significant impact on client connectivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure solutions at client locations.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolution of complex network issues, including connectivity, performance, and security problems.
• Configure and deploy network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless solutions.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments to plan and design effective network deployments.
• Provide technical guidance and support to clients and on-site technical staff.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations and procedures.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar senior network role.
• Deep understanding of routing protocols , switching technologies, VPNs, and network security principles.
• Proficiency with various network hardware vendors and management platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues.
