Job summary

The City of Mesa is seeking an Electric Meter Foreman to supervise skilled electrical and mechanical work on precision watt-hour meters, instruments, and related equipment. This role leads Meter Technicians, trains staff, and ensures efficient, safe operations across field and shop environments.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, completion of a Meterman apprenticeship, and 3–5 years as a journey-level Meterman with 6 months to 1 year in a lead or supervisory capacity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of an apprenticeship program in the Meterman trade.
• Considerable (3 - 5 years) full-time work experience as a journey-level Meterman engaged in electrical instrument testing and repair.
• Some (6 months - 1 year) experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

• Train new and existing staff members and supervise day-to-day activities.
• Prioritize and assign work and assist with daily operations.
• Review staff work through meetings, reports, and results achieved; provide guidance as needed.
• Perform the more difficult metering installations, testing, calibration, and repairs, both in the field and in the meter shop.
• Work in a safety-conscious manner, following procedures and using appropriate PPE; may be called out for emergencies and required to work overtime.
