Job summary

Davey Resource Group, Inc. is seeking a Field Technician to analyze and catalog electrical meters for utility asset data.

You will work with leading electrical and telecom companies, inspect meters, safely swap analog meters with smart meters, and travel across service territories to collect accurate field data. The role requires standing and hiking, working outdoors in all weather, 40–45 hours weekly, and compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and valid driver’s license required.
• Knowledge of Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Presentations, Forms).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and at various hours.
• Electrical utility and telecommunications experience preferred.
• Prior experience working with electrical meters.
• Discipline, or the completion of an approved apprenticeship program preferred.
• Clean DMV driving record and ability to safely drive/operate a 4x4 vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Operate as a lone worker when required.
• Perform field audits of existing utility infrastructure by visually identifying, inspecting, and recording information.
• Operate hand-held computers, GPS units, cameras and/or other field technology.
• Read and follow maps; navigate through terrains and weather using GPS, maps, compass, or other methods.
• Travel 75%-100% for on-site duties.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Supervisors, Coordinators, Technicians, and Administrators.
• Ensure safety and compliance with regulations; maintain vehicle and equipment.
• Record data accurately and communicate with property owners and agencies for access.
