Job summary

LuminX is hiring a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to own deployments and continuous improvement of camera and edge-compute hardware in customer warehouses. You will lead installations, solve field challenges, and feed learnings back into hardware and deployment processes.

You will work cross-functionally with facilities, IT, and engineering to ensure reliable, repeatable installations. Expect hands-on CAD work, install planning, and travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering or related hands-on hardware roles.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or equivalent.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Onshape, Fusion 360, Creo).
• Experience designing mechanical parts and assemblies for real environments.
• Hands-on experience assembling, modifying, and troubleshooting electromechanical equipment.
• Comfort with hand tools, fasteners, cabling, and basic diagnostic equipment.
• Understanding of wiring, low-voltage power, Ethernet, and basic electrical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead customer deployments from site survey through installation and commissioning.
• Develop installation layouts, BOMs, equipment lists, schedules, and site-readiness docs.
• Install and align camera and edge-compute units at dock doors and operational areas.
• Verify camera coverage, lighting, stability, cabling, power, and network readiness.
• Design mounts, enclosures, fixtures, and cable-management systems.
• Use CAD and rapid prototyping to translate field problems into solutions.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, networking, and hardware-software issues on-site.
• Coordinate with customer operations, facilities, IT, electricians, and partners.
• Create deployment kits, checklists, tests, procedures, and spare-parts plans.
• Support hardware bring-up, reliability testing, and field validation.
• Turn field observations into hardware and process improvements.
• Help build the team and processes to scale deployments across warehouses.
