Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Mechanical Construction Inspector to join our Construction Services Department, working on projects for New York and New Jersey public clients. The role involves inspection of municipal infrastructure, documentation, and collaboration with owners and contractors.

The position requires 2 years of inspection experience, a high school diploma or GED (bachelor’s in engineering preferred), OSHA 10-hour training, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience inspecting construction work.
• High school graduate or GED equivalent; bachelor’s in Mechanical or Civil Engineering preferred.
• NICET II or Engineer-in-Training certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Proactively identify field issues and develop solutions to keep work moving.
• Review plans and inspect infrastructure projects for compliance with contract documents and codes.
• Prepare and process construction records (RFIs, submittals, progress pay applications, extra work billings, COs).
• Document all field activities and collaborate with owner and contractor, representing Dewberry and clients.
• Use MS Word and Excel for diaries, quantity calculations and related tasks.
