Primoris Services Corporation in Belton, TX is seeking a Field Mechanic II to perform skilled maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of heavy equipment in the field. The role requires independent judgment and hands-on technical expertise to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently.

You will diagnose and repair excavators, loaders, cranes, and trucks, conduct preventive maintenance, read schematics, use diagnostic tools, and document work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of heavy equipment mechanic experience.
• Valid driver's license; CDL may be required depending on vehicle assignments.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints and technical manuals.
• Proficient with diagnostic software and tools for heavy equipment.
• Welding and fabrication skills a plus.
• Independent work style with good communication.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, dozers, cranes, trucks).
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections per schedules and manufacturer specs.
• Use diagnostic tools and manuals to resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
• Repair/replace engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and braking components.
• Safely operate equipment for testing and diagnostics.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, parts, labor, and fault codes.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout, confined space, and hazardous materials procedures.
• Communicate status and progress with supervisors and operators; assist less experienced techs.
• Order parts and manage inventory; travel to multiple sites as needed.
