Job summary

Primoris Services Corporation is seeking a Field Mechanic II to perform skilled maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of heavy equipment in the field. You will inspect, troubleshoot, and service machines such as excavators, dozers, cranes, and trucks, ensuring safe operation and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, field service preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL may be required depending on vehicle assignments.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines and related components.
  • Able to read schematics and technical manuals; proficient with diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy construction equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections according to schedules and specs.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and manuals to resolve complex issues in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, parts used, labor hours, and fault codes.
  • Follow safety policies (Lockout/Tagout, confined space, hazardous materials handling) and travel to sites as required.

Job Overview:Job Summary:**The Field Mechanic II at Primoris Services Corporation is responsible for performing skilled maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of various heavy equipment, vehicles, and machinery in the field. This role requires independent judgment and technical expertise to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.Job Responsibilities:*** Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of heavy construction equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, cranes, trucks, and other related machinery.* Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and service according to established schedules and manufacturer specifications.* Utilize diagnostic tools, software, and technical manuals to identify and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.* Execute repairs and replacements of engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical components, braking systems, and other critical parts.* Safely operate and maneuver heavy equipment for testing and diagnostic purposes.* Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, labor hours, and fault codes.* Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, confined space entry, and proper handling of hazardous materials.* Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and other team members regarding equipment status, repair progress, and potential issues.* Order necessary parts and supplies, ensuring efficient inventory management.* Travel to various job sites as required, often working outdoors in varying weather conditions.* Provide guidance and support to less experienced mechanics as needed.* Perform other duties as assigned by management.Job Qualifications:*** High School Diploma or GED required.* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in a field service role.* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL may be required depending on vehicle assignments.* Proficient in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on heavy equipment.* Strong understanding of diesel engines and related components.* Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.* Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools specific to heavy equipment.* Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound technical decisions.* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.* Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks in various working conditions.* Availability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed.* OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.* Relevant certifications from equipment manufacturers or trade schools are highly desirable.Company Overview:Primoris Heavy Civil provides highway, port, airfield, rail and marine (intermodal transportation) construction services to private commercial and industrial clients as well as governmental entities such as the Department of Transportation and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
