Job summary

Bettis Asphalt & Construction, Inc. seeks a Mechanic's Helper to assist in maintaining and repairing machinery and vehicles. You will help ensure the functionality and reliability of engines and mechanical systems while following safety guidelines.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to read blueprints, and strong use of hand tools. Travel is required for this position, and teamwork is essential to support our Bettis Companies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
• Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components.
• Aptitude in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools (e.g. calipers).
• Ability to follow established procedures and read instructions/blueprints.
• Strong commitment to health and safety guidelines.
• Good communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Inspect machines, engines and transmissions and run diagnostic tests to find functionality issues.
• Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
• Troubleshoot problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
• Perform maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems.
• Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components.
• Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery.
• Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures.
• Keep logs of work and report on issues.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
