An established industry player is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join their dynamic team. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing various types of heavy machinery and vehicles used in electrical construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing mechanical issues and performing preventative maintenance. Position Purpose: Responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all types of wire pulling and stringing equipment, heavy equipment, trailers, and vehicles used for electrical construction projects throughout the region.
Essential Responsibilities
*Diagnose, inspect and repair diesel engines, gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems, compressors, generators, suspensions, brakes, transmissions, fuel injection systems, ignition systems and air tools
*Replace and repair damaged components
*Perform engine flushing/cleaning, parts lubrication, oil changes and maintenance checks and all equipment
*Troubleshoot, maintain, and repairing all types of heavy equipment, trailers,aerial lift platforms, bulldozer, bucket trucks
*Annual DOT and Crane Inspections
*Perform vehicle preventative maintenance
*Extensive travel required
Knowledge | Skills | Abilities
*2-4 years experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment (wheeled and tracked) or trucks
*Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and diagrams
*Strong welding (Stick/MIG) and fabrication skills
*Must possess a valid class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
*Basic understanding of DOT Regulations
*Basic understanding of iPhones, iPads and computers
*Good organizational and recordkeeping skills
*Ability to travel to job sites and provide mechanical oversight to equipment on numerous projects throughout a geographical area
*Proficient in the use of diagnostic and testing equipment
*Customer service skills
Qualifications
*High School graduate.
*Must possess a valid class A Commercial Drive License (CDL) or have the ability to obtain one.
*Ability to travel to job sites and provide mechanical oversight to equipment on numerous projects throughout the region.
Work Environment
*Must be able to remain standing approximately 75% of the time
*Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, reaching
*The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
*Occasionally lifting 40 pounds
