Job summary

Oftedal Construction, Inc. is seeking a heavy equipment technician to diagnose, service, and repair equipment in the field and at shop facilities within our Wyoming trade area.

You will troubleshoot systems, replace components, perform field tests, and document work orders while traveling between job sites and maintaining safety and productivity standards. Successful candidates pass pre-employment drug and fitness tests and bring experience with engines, hydraulics, electrical, and powertrain

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and inspect heavy equipment to determine problems.
  • Review information from troubleshooting to estimate repair time and parts.
  • Repair or replace components on engines, hydraulics, electrical, air, fuel, and transmissions.
  • Field test equipment after repairs to confirm quality and readiness.
  • Use hand tools, torque wrenches, testing tools, hoists, and chains.
  • Submit work orders, fuel reports, parts requisitions, meter readings, and timesheets.
  • Travel to and from job sites within the company trade area.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and fitness tests.

Job description

Diagnose, service and repair heavy equipment.

Essential Functions
  • Troubleshoot and inspect heavy equipment to determine problems or cause of the malfunction.
  • Reviews information obtained from troubleshooting and inspection of inoperative equipment determining the time required to repair defects, parts needed to make repairs, special tools needed to make repairs of if a repair should occur at a shop facility.
  • Regularly remove, repairs, or replaces components on engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air systems, fuel systems, transmissions, and other power train related systems.
  • Field tests heavy equipment after repairs are completed confirming the quality of repairs and machine is ready to be placed back onto production.
  • Work with hand wrenches, hammers, impact tools, torque wrenches, screwdrivers, basic measuring tools, overhead hoists, slings and chains, electrical testing tools, hydraulic testing tools, and numerous other adjusting tools.
  • Accurately and timely submit work orders, fuel reports, parts requisitions, meter readings and timesheets to the office.
  • Travel to and from job sites in the company trade area.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and fitness tests prior to employment.
