Job summary

Black Hills Energy is seeking a Field Measurement Technician to install, calibrate and maintain meters, regulators, and related instrumentation across multiple sites in Colorado. The role includes testing large volume meters and ensuring safety, code compliance and accurate measurement.

You will travel up to 10% and may respond to emergencies. A valid driver’s license and strong writing and analytical skills are required; prior meter/testing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience inspecting and testing large volume meters, regulators and instruments or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of mainframe environment, PC knowledge and applicable software is helpful.
• Ability to effectively communicate and cooperate with coworkers.
• Writing skills vital to prepare accurate paperwork.
• Analytical and reasoning skills.
• Mechanical ability.
• Highly organized and flexible.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Test and calibrate large volume meters, gauges, and instruments.
• Conduct annual Town Border Station inspections.
• Conduct annual District Regulator Stations inspections.
• Witness testing of metering stations.
• Size meters, relief valves and regulators for all types of applications.
• Make recommendations on equipment upgrades or repairs for safety, code compliance or improved measurement.
• Install or troubleshoot telemetry with support from other field operations.
• Install and troubleshoot SCADA equipment with guidance from Gas Control; conduct orifice plate meter inspections.

Position summary:

As the Field Measurement Technician, you will perform the installation, removal, adjustment, repair and maintenance of meters, regulators, electronic equipment, valves, instruments including TBS (Town Border Stations) DRS (District Regulator Stations) Orifice plate meters, Chromatograph, Spectra Sensors, H2S, H2O analyzers and all Large Capacity customer meters in a safe and efficient manner consistent with company policies and procedures.

Pay Range:

$32.36 - $48.41 per hour (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)

Reporting Relationship:

Location:

Eagle, Collbran or Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Essential Functions:

• Test and calibrate large volume meters, gauges, and instruments.
• Conduct annual Town Border Station inspections.

• Will be required to carry a company - provided cell phone and be available to respond during working hours; may be required to respond during non-working hours, especially related to company emergencies

• Perform other assigned tasks as required.

What Is Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of (1) one year of experience inspecting and testing large volume meters, regulators and instruments or equivalent experience

• This position requires driving responsibilities. You must hold and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company and insurer standards.
