Job summary

Certerra South is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Technician in the Austin metro area (Buda/S. Austin, TX) to perform field inspections and sampling on commercial and transportation projects.

You will interpret plans, conduct soil density and concrete testing, and prepare written field reports. The role requires a valid driver’s license, basic Excel, and strong communication skills, with safety and reliability emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a construction/project site role.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Reliable punctuality to designated sites.
• Ability to prepare reports and documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic Excel knowledge.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and MVR checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing on general building sites and facilities.
• Interpret plans and specifications for project compliance.
• Conduct soil density testing using nuclear gauge and sand cone on site.
• Test concrete in accordance with ASTM and project specs.
• Prepare field reports with observations and density calculations.
• Observe proof rolls, undercut operations, footing inspections, and rebar inspection.
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
• Communicate with client representatives at project sites.
• Analyze data for accuracy and applicability.
