Job summary

Hurt & Proffitt is seeking a dependable Engineering Technician to support a variety of construction materials testing across multiple project types from our Lynchburg office. The role emphasizes field testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt, with documentation of results and observations for project compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Basic computer proficiency including MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction plans and testing requirements.
• Perform soil density testing using nuclear gauges per ASTM/VDOT.
• Conduct field testing of concrete per ASTM/ACI standards.
• Perform asphalt field testing per ASTM/VDOT standards.
• Collect samples for lab testing and assist with lab testing as needed.
• Observe earthwork, foundations, and concrete placement for compliance.
• Document testing results and observations in electronic reports.
• Communicate results with project managers, contractors, and clients.
