Job summary

Actalent seeks a Construction Materials Technician to perform field testing and inspection services on diverse construction projects. The role focuses on on-site testing of concrete, soils, aggregates, and related materials to verify compliance with specs and standards.

Travel to sites is required, with overtime possible to meet project demands. The position is based in Columbus, OH, and offers contract-to-hire opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic blueprint interpretation skills.
• Ability to perform concrete, soil, and related materials testing.
• Familiarity with ACI standards.
• ACI/NICET certifications strongly valued for field work.
• Ability to work outdoors and travel locally.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality control testing at project sites for concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate, and reinforcing steel.
• Conduct construction administration and inspection services for roadway, bridge, municipal utility, and infrastructure projects.
• Inspect construction activities to ensure contractor compliance with specifications, plans and requirements.
• Verify plan quantities and calculations against as-bid plans and maintain accurate documentation of measurements and test results.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain project records and reports in a clear and timely manner.
• Communicate regularly with project engineers, owners representatives, project managers and contractors.
• Identify non-conforming work or materials and notify relevant parties with detailed info.
• Support testing and inspection work as assigned by the project engineer.
• Travel locally to various construction sites and adjust to changing schedules and weather.
• Work overtime, including weekends when necessary.
