Reports to the VP of Product & Sales
We are seeking a high-level Field Marketing Manager to spearhead our retail merchandising, budtender training, demo, and event initiatives across California. Based in Sacramento, you will serve as the "Model Lead" -- setting the gold standard for field execution locally while overseeing regional Field Marketing Specialists, Brand Ambassadors (BAs), and our 1099 event and demo contractor team throughout the state.
This is a dual-impact role. You will lead by example in the Sacramento territory while acting as the project manager for statewide initiatives. You will be responsible for coverage of high-priority activations, driving merchandising wins in key accounts, and managing our calendar of consumer and B2B events and trade shows.
We are building an AI-first marketing team. You'll use AI tools (Claude) every day -- planning routes, generating visit reports, building training materials, and analyzing what's working -- so the field team spends its time in stores, not on paperwork.
Statewide Leadership & Standardization: Oversee regional field specialists to ensure brand consistency and procedural excellence across all California territories. Identify gaps in coverage and reallocate resources (Specialists/BAs) to meet market demands.
The Sacramento "Model" Territory: Act as the lead field representative for the Sacramento region, executing high-level activations, merchandising installs, and budtender trainings that serve as the blueprint for the rest of the state.
1099 Contractor Team: Recruit, schedule, train, and manage a group of 1099 contractors who staff in-store demos and trade show events, operating within the contractor structure set by Finance and Legal. Ensure every contractor knows the products, follows brand standards, and reports results same-day in our systems.
Consumer & B2B Events: Lead planning and execution for consumer and industry events, including Hall of Flowers, networking shows, and Puffcon. This includes building agendas, organizing logistics and booth setup, staffing with Sales, BAs and contractors, leading staff briefings, and managing post-event ROI analysis.
Visual Merchandising: Make sure our products are displayed correctly and in high-visibility areas. Proactively identify merchandising opportunities — custom displays, vinyl, signage — push them through to install, and lead the team to do the same. Every store visit should leave the store better than you found it.
In your first 30 days, you will build your own scorecard with leadership — the specific numbers this role is measured on every week (doors at merchandising standard, demos executed, trainings delivered, event ROI). You'll help define the targets, then you'll own hitting them. If being measured weekly on field results excites you, you're our kind of operator.
Experience: 3+ years in field marketing, trade marketing, event marketing, or retail sales operations. Cannabis industry experience strongly preferred; regulated CPG (alcohol, beverage) field experience also valued.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a relevant field — or equivalent field experience.
Leadership — proven ability to: manage a calendar of consumer and B2B events; lead and schedule employees and 1099 contractors through clear communication; manage projects from planning through execution; take initiative and push opportunities through without waiting to be asked.
Interpersonal Skills: Brilliant communication skills with a focus on collaborative "back-and-forth" problem solving and team tagging in a digital environment.
Tech: Comfortable living in Odoo and Monday.com (or similar CRM/PM tools) and logging work same-day without being chased. Enthusiastic about working with AI tools daily — we'll train you on our stack, but you have to want it.
