Job summary

Coach Across America in Washington, DC is seeking a Field Manager to serve as the main contact for AmeriCorps Coaches and partner sites in the DC area and beyond. The role requires coordinating onboarding, compliance, and program operations while reporting to the Managing Director.

The ideal candidate will have a nonprofit or youth program background, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel locally and nationally as needed. A hybrid work model and competitive benefits are offered.

Coach Across America is based on a simple premise: That highly trained coaches can be among the most transformative adults in young people’s lives and inspire their success on the field, in the classroom, and in life.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Field Manager will serve as the main point of contact for a cohort(s) of Coach Across America AmeriCorps Coaches, their programs, and partnering organizations throughout D.C. The Field Manager is responsible for ensuring that Coach Across America AmeriCorps Coaches and partnering organizations are properly supported and experience high-quality services and outcomes. This position is based out of D.C. and works closely with the Managing Director to manage the D.C. market while meeting programmatic and funding compliance requirements.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as point of contact for Coaches and program sites in D.C. and other cities.
  • Manage AmeriCorps Coach onboarding and exiting process in partnership with the National Operations Team, including interviewing prospective coaches, running compliance checks, and processing all onboarding and exiting paperwork.
  • Monitor compliance of coaches and program sites to ensure consistency with criteria established by funding sources, the Coach Across America mission, and the Coach program.
  • Maintain electronic records of Coaches and program sites in the organization’s internal database.
  • Conduct multiple host site visits for coaches in D.C.
  • Conduct and deliver program orientation to coaches and program sites at the beginning of the program service year.
  • Assist with organizing and facilitating coach trainings, special events, and other D.C.-based program initiatives.
  • Coordinate program activities for coaches and other stakeholders, i.e., Service Days, Coach professional development, socials, etc.
  • Review applications from program sites requesting to host coaches and prepare recommendations to the National Operations Team for allocating coach placements.
  • Cultivate new relationships with youth sports programs across the region and assist in increasing Coach Across America membership.
  • Support all aspects of program monitoring and evaluation, including data collection, tracking, coding, and reporting.
  • Mentor, motivate, and support AmeriCorps Coaches.
  • Additional travel outside of regular host site visits may be required on an as-needed basis, both locally and nationally.
  • Other duties as determined by your supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience in nonprofit administration, operations, youth program coordination, recreation administration, or school-based administration.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a nonprofit or school-based organization is preferred.
  • Must be able to work on a team, but also be self-motivated; experience working with remote teams preferred.
  • Able to comfortably travel throughout D.C. with own vehicle or public transit.
  • Two to three years of experience working with underserved youth.
  • Understanding and interest in both theory and practice of sports-based youth development.
  • Experience in developing collaborative partnerships among various stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and work on multiple projects at once.
  • Computer literacy and well-developed technology skills.
  • Strong connection with the youth sports community is preferred.
  • Experience working with AmeriCorps national service federal and/or state grants preferred, but not required.
COMPENSATION
  • Salary range: $45,000 - $48,000 per year
